The quiet holiday check-in

batlamblogsBeing busy with life and family over the holiday season means less time to work on the site for a bit. I'll be back to plugging away at my hobbies and creative pursuits by early January. In the meantime, to prove I didn't vanish from the planet, I'm just posting a quick check-in.
Winter hit my state like a sack of bricks—another reason to be glad I didn't hardcore procrastinate on finding presents. If the holidays didn't fall on a weekend, I would be spending more of my frozen-in time writing. I said on my website that I had a Twine project, which is true, but it hasn't been my main focus for a bit. Instead, I've been banging out a story I've had in my head for a little while, and I hope to have it out by the end of January. It'll be the first one that goes up on my website.
After the holidays, the greatest obstacles to getting that done are Kenshi and Starbound, both of which are excellent games that I'm trying not to binge-play. My Starbound runs Frackin' Universe plus a number of other mods, mostly ones that add anthro races and extra cosmetic stuff. I've got a few characters in decent places, and I'm trying to stick to one long enough to get off the starting planet. I got the alt-itis bad, Doc.
Kenshi is a fantastic, grimy little sandbox. I've settled in the Spider Plains with a crew offive four (one got eaten alive by a spider) and am about to get my shit kicked in by Kral's Chosen, who knows what'll happen next? Well, I'll probably just run and try not to get eaten by wolves. The game is rather unforgiving; you start with basement stats, some of which can only be increased by getting into fights, and death is permanent. Getting enslaved by NPCs is actually one of the better outcomes of losing a fight, second only to having your food taken and being left to the wolves (crawl away fast when you wake up). It gives me the same feeling as Mount & Blade and I love it, jank and all.
